What's Happening at Mayfair-Plymouth

Announcements for July 5

Pancake Breakfast This Morning
You're invited to come downstairs to Friendship Hall this morning after both of the services to enjoy a pancake breakfast sponsored by the youth group.  The cost is a donation of your choice, and the proceeds will go toward their summer mission trip, which begins this Thursday, July 9.

Worship on the Land and All-Church Family Picnic
It's that time of year again!  It's time for the annual Worship on the Land and All-Church Family Picnic.  Plan to join us on Sunday, July 26 for worship at 10:30 a.m. followed by the picnic at noon.  For those who can't attend the worship on the land, we'll still have our traditional worship service at the church at 9 a.m.  Come and join us on the land on this fun, eventful day - and invite your family and friends!

Let's Clean Up the Land and Help to Build the Prayer Path!
Next Saturday, July 11, at 9 a.m. we'll be working on the new land to accomplish two things. One is to make our new prayer path there a reality: eight new prayer stations are going to be installed with benches for meditating.  We'll need help hauling the benches, signs, concrete, and water.  Holes will have to be dug for the signs, and the benches anchored.  We could also use some folks to provide water and refreshments.  The project is headed by Kyle Krgielski as his Eagle's Project.  The second project is clearing the land for the upcoming worship service and picnic on July 26.  (Please sign up to help with this at the table in the narthex.) We need people to bring yard tools such as weed whackers, trimmers, chain saws, etc.  Bring work gloves, bug repellent, and plenty of water.  (Long sleeves and long pants are suggested.)  Save the date, and we'll see you there!  If you have questions about cleaning up the land, contact Rod Henning at 419-476-6752.

Blood Pressure Checks Today
Free blood pressure screening is available in the church office after both of the services this morning

Praisefest '09
The Praise Team will take part in Praisefest '09 at Sequoia Campgrounds in Adrian, Michigan on Saturday, July 18, appearing under the name Mustard Seed at 12:30 p.m.  For more information, visit their web site at www.praisefest.info. We hope to see you there!

KidCheck Update
Thank you to the parents and volunteers who have been participating in our pilot program to improve the security of our children involved in our Children's Ministry programs. We recently tested KidCheck, a web-based system for check-in/out, under a 90-day money-back program.  We've determined that the web-based system is problematic, and we'll be returning it. We'll continue our efforts by investigating a non-web-based system.  Thank you for your continued participation as we look for a system appropriate for the needs of the children and parents of Mayfair-Plymouth!

 Annual Camping/Canoe/Rafting Trip
This year's church camping and canoe/raft trip will be held the weekend of August 6-9.  We'll be camping in West Branch, Michigan, and will be floating the AuSable River on August 7.  Join us for the day or for the whole weekend!  For more information, contact Dan and Donna White at 734-847-8349 or Tim and Marlene O'Brien at 419-304-0172.

 Help Needed!
We still need some items to be donated and/or loaned for the picnic, and we need lots of help to make the day a success.  Please stop by the tables near the double doors and check out the sign-up sheets for donations and to volunteer.  Contact Rod Henning, our picnic organizer, at 419-476-6752 for more information.
