Sunday School Open House Today
Join us downstairs today for our Sunday school open house! Come down to the preschool through 4th grade classrooms any time between 10:00 and 10:40 to see what Sunday school is all about!
Garage/Bake Sale This Saturday - Baked Goods Needed
The annual Women's Retreat Fund Indoor Garage Sale will be held this Saturday, September 11, from 9 to 4. We could really use all sorts of donated baked goods. If you can help, just drop off the baked goods this Friday, September 10 or Saturday, September 11. We'll take care of the packaging. If you have questions, call Donna Bauman at 419-476-3855. Thanks so much for your help!
New Adult Growth Groups Begin This Week
Sign up today for the new Adult Growth Groups that begin this Wednesday night and next Sunday morning. Information for each group is at the display in the narthex where you can sign up and pick up class materials.
Will You Help the Mission?
Our church is scheduled to serve a meal at the Toledo Rescue Mission on Saturday, September 25. Volunteers are needed to provide and prepare food for a meal at the mission and/or to help serve the meal there. (The food is dropped off here at the church.) Signup sheets are at the Information Center.
Christmas Tree Outreach
Thank you for your support of $705 for the Christmas Tree Outreach on December 4. Due to supplier inventory, our new goal is 60 trees at $15 each. We're still hoping for $195 to be able to put our order in by next Sunday, September 12. Make checks out to "Mayfair-Plymouth Christmas Tree Outreach." If you give cash, put it into one of the offering envelopes in the pew holder and mark it "Christmas Tree Outreach." Thank you again!
Special Guest Today
Today we welcome Ben Conarroe, who has a military brig ministry, "Hebrews 13:3." He'll be sharing with us during all three services this weekend.
Blood Pressure Checks Today
Free blood pressure screening is available in the church office after both of the services this morning.
An Invitation to Join M-P
One way to deepen our commitment to Christ is to become a member of a local church. Mayfair-Plymouth Church is offering a membership class on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and on Wednesday evenings at 6:15. Join one of these classes - which last for 12 weeks - so you can become a member of Mayfair-Plymouth Church! Sign up at the table in the narthex.
Urgent Need
Bennett Venture Academy has an urgent need for white polo shirts and black pants (the required school clothes for the students) in all sizes up to grade 8. They also need book bags, new or used in good condition. If you can help, put the items into the basket near the coat room. Thanks!
New Bible Study for Women
Women of all ages are invited to participate in a 10-session study of the book Bad Girls of the Bible. The book features ten women whose stories are in the Bible to show us how not to live. Sessions will begin on Thursday, September 16, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church library and will continue every other week. Discussions will be led by Diann Claassen and free child care will be available. You may pick up a book in the lobby and read chapter one before the first session. Call Diann at 734-206-2392 if you have any questions.
Friendship Group News
Dan and Shelly Kirsch will again lead a Friendship Group that meets every other Friday in the church library at 6:30 p.m. They'll study the book Radical, which will challenge you to encounter what Jesus really said about being His disciple, and then obey what you've heard. Dan and Shelly will announce the date of the first meeting when books become available, but would like you to sign up now (at the display in the narthex) so that they can get an idea of the size of the group. Contact Dan and Shelly (419-476-6701) for more information.
Leadership Development
What does it mean to be a leader in the church? This fall on Sunday nights we'll be investigating that question. Beginning on September 19 at 6 p.m. and for five Sunday nights afterward, Pastor Rupert will lead discussions on this topic using a DVD series featuring cutting-edge leaders in the church today. Everyone, whether or not you're currently in a leadership role, is invited to join us, although those in leadership are strongly encouraged to attend. You'll be receiving an e-mail reminder as the date approaches, so if we don't have your e-mail address in the church office, please provide it on the e-mail sheet at the Information Center - or put it on an orange response card with your name and the address clearly printed and put the card into the offering plate. Let's discover together what it means to be a Christian leader!
M-P Bowling Teams Now Forming
Want to have some laughs? Want to have some fun? No talent required! Come join us for both starting on Sunday, October 3 at Twin Oaks Bowling Lanes. We bowl at 3 p.m. every other Sunday (shadow balls start at 2:50). Teams consist of four people: men and women, all women, all men - we don't care. It's all for fun, relaxation, camaraderie, and fellowship. The cost is very inexpensive: $10 per person. A signup sheet is at the Information Center. If you have questions, contact Tim and Marlene O'Brien (419-410-2149) or Daryl and Jody Richardson (419-206-3288).
