Our Beliefs

We believe that God created this universe and world.  He created humans in His image to be in relationship with Him and to partner with Him in carrying out His great and grand purposes.

God's creation was designed for good and was made perfect by Him but through free choice we humans have chosen to live our way rather than His way.  This has resulted in a sin-damaged world.

We humans are incapable of making the world and our lives right on our own.  It is only by God's grace and mercy that it can happen.  God entered into human history, He incarnated Himself, in Jesus.  Jesus' principle purpose for coming into the world as God among us was not to teach, heal, or provide a perfect example (though He did all of these).  His principle purpose was to restore people to an intimate and eternal relationship with Him  by dying on a cross.  His death, in a wonderful and partly mysterious way, was able to  pay the price and penalty for our sins.  Jesus provides us with the way back to God!  It is a free gift.  Like all gifts, however, it must be recieved.  Our great desire as a church is to bring people to Jesus Christ so that He may be their Forgiver and ultimate Friend.

We believe that our obligation is to spread this Good News about Jesus not only to our own community in evangilism but around the world through missions.  Because of this we are deeply committed to supporting missionaries and mission efforts all over the globe.

We realize that this is a very broken world so we also seek, as a church, to alieviate pain and suffering that comes from alienation of relationships, addictions, inadequate food and the shortage of the other necessities of life.

God has been in actively invovled with His people since He created them in His own image.  Some of the history of His working with His people is recorded in the Bible. God has also seen fit to include in the Bible His teaching on any and every subject that's important for life to be lived the way He originally intended.  We therefore believe the Bible to be His inspired Word and that He has carefully protected it from error, making it our infalable guide for living as His people.  It is our ultiamte authority.

Some day history will end as we know it.  Jesus has promised in His teachings that He will return to create a new heaven and earth.  All things will be new.  This will include a final judgment at which everyone will have their deepest desire met as to whether they really wanted God most of all or whether they didn't.  They will have their wish granted and will either spend their eternal existence with God or without God.

God is all-loving and wants the best for us.  God is all-wise and knows what is best for us. God is all-powerful and can do what is best for us.  LIfe is best lived and can be lived to the fullest in a relationship with God in which He is most important of all to us.
